The Wombats

The Wombats are a three-piece band from Liverpool whose unique blend of shimmering, high-speed punk-pop has gained a huge following near and far. The Wombats comprise of two native Liverpudlians; front man Matthew Murphy and drummer, Dan Haggis whilst Norweigan, Tord Øverland-Knudsen adds bass and further vocal ammo. In 2015, they returned with their third full-length album, the synth-heavy Glitterbug, which featured production from Mark Crew and included the singles “Greek Tragedy” and “Give Me a Try.” The album’s themes were inspired by core songwriter Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy’s roller coaster of experiences in Los Angeles. Murph says that “The album’s about the envy, the struggle, the pretence, the worry and the fear that L.A. – and every major city in the world – encompasses.”
